H1497 — My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program (died in committee)

June 5, 2026

House Bill 1497 did not advance. The proposed legislation, which would have modified the My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program, died in the State Administration Budget Subcommittee on March 13, 2026, and will not become law.

The bill proposed several changes to pilot program eligibility and administration:

• Revised eligibility requirements to permit condominiums with mixed-income occupancies to participate
• Required mitigation grant applications to include household income verification documentation
• Authorized the Department of Financial Services to adopt rules for income verification procedures
• Limited the amount of grant funds awarded per application
• Required associations to complete a specified percentage of opening protection improvements as a condition of participation

Because the bill did not pass, the My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program remains governed by its existing rules and requirements. Associations currently participating in or considering participation in the program should continue to follow current eligibility criteria and application procedures.

For details on the bill's proposed language and legislative history, see H1497 on the Florida Senate website.

If your association participates in the pilot program and has questions about current eligibility or grant requirements, contact the Department of Financial Services directly.
