Senate Bill 822 was filed during the 2026 legislative session to require certain community associations to contract with certified or licensed managers.
The bill proposed that community associations meeting specified criteria engage either a management firm or an individual manager holding one of three recognized certifications: Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) from the Community Association Managers International Certification Board, Association Management Specialist (AMS) from the Community Associations Institute, or Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) from the Community Associations Institute. The bill also would have required the management firm or certified manager to possess all applicable licenses required by law.
Status: The bill died in the Judiciary Committee on March 13, 2026, and did not become law. No changes to current requirements are in effect.
