Senate Bill 1706 died in House Messages on March 13, 2026, and did not become law.
The bill proposed changes to the My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program, including revised eligibility requirements and new grant authorization procedures. Had it passed, S1706 would have required the Department of Financial Services to adopt rules verifying household income for program participants.
The bill would have clarified that condominium properties with mixed-income occupancies could participate in the pilot program under specified circumstances and would have authorized the use of grant funds for a defined purpose while establishing limits on award amounts.
Because the bill did not advance, no changes to the My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program take effect at this time. Associations currently participating in the program should continue following existing eligibility and grant procedures established under current law.
For information about the pilot program's current requirements, contact the Department of Financial Services directly or consult your association's legal counsel.
